A Creative Tool for Teachers, Therapists, and Group Workers
This cooperative effort by Barlow, Blythe, and Edmonds is both practical and creatively constructed to assist teachers, therapists, and group workers. The work covers several domains of group development as well as influential variables that may impact upon the overall dynamics of that group. The text presents several non-traditional and creative approaches to problem solving and self discovery for group facilitators to explore. Topics of interest include risk-taking, goal-setting, values clarification and more. From "Icebreakers" to "Self Enhancement", this book is an invaluable source for anyone interested in building a reportiore of interactive activities geared toward increasing general group cohesion as well as individual development within that group.

Historical and Geographical Dictionary of Japan (Tut Books. R)
Published in Paperback by Charles E Tuttle Co (December, 1972)
Author: Edmond, Papinot
Average review score:

Comprehensive and concise
Found this book to be extremely helpful in researching Japanese history and to help deepen my understanding of all the events in Japanese history. There are a few errors in it that I've found, but overall, it's a very informative book.

Le Roi des montagnes
Published in Unknown Binding by Hachette ()
Author: Edmond About
Average review score:

Great adventure in splendid landscape
This is an adventure novel set in Nineteenth-Century Greece. Along with two British girls, a German student is kidnapped by a legendary bandit who gives the novel its title, "The King of the Mountains". The German student falls in love with one of the English girls, but it turns out that their relationship is doomed. Two times they try to escape, but they are caught and he is tortured by the ruthless bandit and his fellows. They are freed after numerous and exotic adventures, and the end is not the typical "happy end". Edmond About is a forgotten French writer, with several recommendable books. This is pure entertainment, without any philosophical implications, but it would be worth the reedition of his books. Unlikely as it is, I do recommend that, if you come across one of his books, take the time to indulge yourself in a funny and exotic time reading his novels, which include fantastic (from "fantasy") literature and even some proto-science fiction.

The Logic of Medicine
Published in Paperback by Johns Hopkins Univ Pr (April, 1997)
Author: Edmond A. Murphy
Average review score:

How a physician does (or should) reason
This book attempts a simplified, yet complete, account of the most basic concepts of medicine: what is a disease, what is a diagnosis and so forth. Originally it is meant for students of medical schools but it is understandable also for people having a different background, thanks to the numerous examples. It divides the subject in two parts, ontology (what we describe as existent and whether it really exists) and epistemology (which methods and logical concepts decide whether the proposed ontology is or is not correct); clearly it is not easy reading and must be studied rather than read. I found this book a very helpful introduction to the topic and it clarified many concepts that I learned only in a confuse and non-systematic way during my years in the medical school; the extensive bibliography contains good suggestions for further reading

Mass Spectrometry : Principles and Applications
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (October, 2001)
Authors: Edmond De Hoffmann and Vincent Stroobant
Average review score:

Pleased
This book was the text in my first course in mass spectrometry. The book is a good introduction to MS for advanced undergrads and graduate students. I felt the book was very helpful, it covers the multitude of ionization sources, mass analyzers, and even tandem MS. I give it a thumbs up.

Mind-Boggling Machines and Amazing Mazes
Published in Hardcover by Turner Pub (November, 1995)
Author: Edmond Davis
Average review score:

Must have puzzles for 3 to 9 year old puzzlers
My 3 yo loves reviewing each machine and asks me to explain the intricate mechanisms and miscellaneous contraptions.

I would guess that older kids will enjoy too since the detail and complexity are significant. Dad likes reading it with the little one due to the real challenge.

Can be frustrating at times since pipes, rails, chutes, etc. cross over middle binding of book requiring a close look and a firm press on the center of the book to correctly follow the lead from one page to the other and back.

If you can find a copy and have a 3 to ? year old, then I strongly recommend you buy it.

New soaring pilot
Published in Unknown Binding by Murray ()
Author: Ann Courtenay (Edmonds) Welch
Average review score:

Good book.
This, along with Reichman's book, is one of the primary texts on soaring. It can be a little stuffy and academic at times (the authors are British, after all), but it's got lots of good technical stuff you'll have a tough time finding anywhere else. It's section on variometers and total energy compensation, for example, is the best I've seen (although it is a bit dated and doesn't cover modern electric instruments). Some color photos or illustrations would sure liven it up.

Nitrous Oxide N2O
Published in Hardcover by Elsevier Science Ltd (January, 1985)
Author: Edmond I. Eger
Average review score:

N2o The use in many ways
I have read this book expecting it to be only a subject concluding to the medical field. I was wrong but very happy to see that it explored the medical field and the field where people use it to get a "high" feeling. It gave the outlook of both worlds. It is a must read for anyone worried about the short or long term effects of this gas used for operations or for recreational use.

Pediatric Urology Practice
Published in Hardcover by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Publishers (15 May, 1999)
Authors: Edmond T. Gonzales and Stuart B. Bauer
Average review score:

pediatric urology practice
Pediatric Urology Practice (Gonzales and Bauer) provides a concise updated textbook of pediatric urology. I found it to be a little more moderately priced than "combination" adult and pediatric urology texts, but still typical for a medical text. As a means to review pediatric urology, I found the book helpful to brush up quickly on specific topics.

Qajar Iran: Political, Social and Cultural Change, 1800-1925
Published in Paperback by Mazda Pub (April, 1992)
Authors: Edmond Bosworth and Carole Hillenbrand
Average review score:

A goldmine of information on the era
This book is a collection of twenty-one essays on Qajar Iran, each written by an expert in the field. The essays are all from ten pages to about twenty pages in length, and cover everything from biographies to critical examinations of events. As this was written for a scholarly reader, much of the writing is somewhat dry. However, that said, it does contain an absolute goldmine of information on the era, and is a valuable resource for anyone interested in nineteenth century Iran/Persia.
